Kids!!!

We've been busy.... with KIDS!! The last few weeks I have been watching my friends kids a couple times a week. 3 year old girl and 6 month old baby boy. At first, Jaxon was having none of it! He was super clingy, jealous and fought a lot with the little girl. He is not very good at sharing.. but now... he LOVES having them over! He asks everyday where the baby and "ana" are! We have soooo much fun with them here. Plus, she keeps Jaxon so entertained!
They ran around the yard pulling this sled all afternoon! They were both dying of laughter!! Then they played ring-around-the-rosie... which was really more of a wrestling match, but so cute!
And this weekend, we got to babysit my little brother Garrett! He is growing up so fast and is so cute!
Jaxon is practicing his sharing skillzzzz here! I was so proud of him!
(Cuz that is a HARD thing for him.. Trust me!)
Talkin away.... I think they are discussing their relation to each other. Garrett is Jaxon's uncle, so Jaxon is his nephew. And Jaxon is 1.5 years older. Did ya catch that?!?! :)

Lets see, what else is new?
Nothing really I guess... We RUN outside whenever we see the sun, and try to find things inside to do when the weather sucks.
I've been working out, eating better, and running.
AND I have lost 10 lbs!
Jaxon is trying to talk a lot more!
He got lazy there for a while! :)
His current favorite phrase...
"It's locked.... where's the key???"
Random I know!
Well that's all for now..
Hope you all had a FABULOUS 3 day weekend!

The Zoo

We took Jaxon to the zoo this past weekend! It was a really fun day! Like usual, we took a million and 1 pictures! Enjoy!
The zoo now has these animatronic dinosaurs all over the place. Their heads and eyes move, they growl and some of them spray water. Well Jaxon loves dinosaurs, but he was NOT expecting them to move and growl and stuff! Ha. He had a love/hate thing with them.
It didn't matter how many times we said "Jaxon don't knock just look" he just couldn't resist. He would knock on the glass and very loudly say... helllloooo?!?!?!
One of my favorite pictures of the day... He loved the elephants!!!
Joel asked me right before we left if I wanted to bring the little umbrella stroller. I decided no. He loves to run/walk around and the zoo is the perfect place for that. And he is getting pretty good at staying with us **most of the time**. Well once we got there, and he realized those dinosaurs were kinda creepin him out... he wanted to be held quite a bit. Plus he could see more up high. Haha... sorry hun! :)
Jaxon loves riding on his daddys shoulders, and it makes for some cute pictures!! You can't really tell here, but he likes to rest his chin on Joels head. It's so sweet!
Time for the giraffes! They were all sorts of active while we were there. Pacing around and stuff. Jaxon thought they were sooooo cool!
Can't go to the zoo with out a carousel ride! I love Jaxon at this age. I asked him as we were getting on what animal he wanted to ride. He promptly said "'bear". Okie Dokie...
Towards the end he decided he would brave the dinosaurs and walk around. Good thing cuz were both tired of carrying him! We ended the day with a train ride, resisting expensive souvenirs, and dinner at Red Robin. I love spending time with my little family!

We have always cut Jaxon's hair. It grows like a weed! Mostly around the ears and neck. So he gets this mullet thing going on that is not my fav. Anyway, he HATES getting his hair cut! It has always been a huge battle, but he was somewhat controllable. Well not lately. So we threw in the towel, and took him to Cookie Cutters! THE BEST DECISION EVER!!!!!
Now before I show you how well he did... let me say this... I was not convinced this place could handle my child. He is stubborn, crazy, and gets reallllllyyyyy mad when we go near him with those buzzers! So when I called to make the appt I warned them to schedule us with an experienced, patient person who could handle a possible wrestling match! Ha! I probably made it sound like I was bringing in a tiger! :)
Well.. when it finally was his turn he did not want to sit still and started with the tantrums. Ugh. Great. But once we got the movie going and a sucker in hand... He didn't move a muscle!!!! He sat there with NO fits the whole time! WHAT?!?!?! (Again, we tried everything at home.. including movies, suckers, candy, grapes, etc.)
Cookie Cutters is awesome... and we will definitely be back! Totally worth the $14! And he looks sooooo cute with his new (better then we ever did it) hair do!

**Easter**

Another fun and busy holiday weekend!
Get ready for a long post!
Saturday morning we hit the egg hunt in Highland.
(Huge disappointment)
Jaxon didn't care... he liked it anyway.

Then we went to grandma and grandpa's house to have our own egg hunt! Apparently dumping the eggs out and picking them up is fun too!
After naptime we "attempted" egg coloring. Welllllll... let's just say he was not interested. He liked looking and naming the colors, but that was about it. Oh well, maybe next year!
So Joel and I finished the egg decorating! I got a little glitter crazy! :)That night, Joel and I went on a date! MMMM Olive Garden for dinner and then a movie with my love... SO NICE!!!
Easter morning Jaxon woke up to...A Toy Story Easter basket!!
To say he has been obsessed with Toy Story lately is a HUGE understatement!!
He examined Woody and Bullseye for a good 30 minutes before even touching them!
After a while, Joel convinced him it's fun to play with them too! :)
So spoiled!!!
And... when he woke up from his nap, Abuela was there to bring him yet another Easter present!
Oh yeah... BUZZ LIGHTYEAR!!
Told ya he would love his Easter stuff!
Of course, nothing is more important then the real meaning of this special holiday.
And this year, Jaxon didn't really understand... but as he gets older I hope we can teach him to appreciate and understand it's true meaning.
Happy Easter!!

SAND DUNES!

It's that time of year again! The annual Roper family sand dunes trip - we always go around Easter time, and it is one of my favorites! This year was a small group... and some of the people there I didn't even recognize.. BUT it was still fun just to be in the sun!
We spent most of our time sitting on the top of the sand dune... watching Jaxon play in the sand. He LOVED it!!

My grandma and one of my uncles has 4-wheelers. So we got to borrow them and take a few rides! It may not look like Jaxon is thrilled in the pictures.... but I promise he loved it!! He is just a stinker about pictures!
Next up... EASTER!! This week we will be dying eggs, eating Easter candy, going on egg hunts and getting his VERY exciting Easter basket ready! Oooo he is gonna love it!

Little NERD!!!

Our little man is so silly lately. He loves wearing shoes! Since I pulled out his flip flops he has been begging to wear shoes around the house! My mom got these adorable Pumas for his birthday... and last night he wanted to wear them while he played! Even though he was already dressed and ready for bed. He was walking around struttin his nerdy self... and laughing away. Until I pulled out the camera. Then he got serious! Go figure.Such a boy!!! But ya gotta love him and his silly personality!

{Something is wrong with my blog..... And I have no idea how to fix it. Or how it got messed up in the first place. UGH!}

Ok, enough complaining. I was looking through last years pictures - 1 year ago, today, Jaxon was not even walking yet!!! Haha isn't that funny??

Potty!!

I started the 3 day potty training method with Jaxon this week! Tomorrow will be day 3... and I am not convinced it is magic and will all the sudden "click" like the author claims. BUT he is improving and we are getting there!! So I am hoping tomorrow goes better then day 1 and 2!
This is more for me then anything else... I want to remember what a joy/nightmare potty training Jaxon was! Haha

Day 1....
Probably 15 accidents through out the day! Little bits here and there and not 1 successful finish in the potty! (Her method is basically when they start going run them to the potty to finish.)
Nighttime... NO pullups, just underwear. I changed the sheets 3 times. UGH. What could be worse then that? Well my little boy takes after me... there are few things more important then sleep. Soooo he does NOT wake up when he pees or when he realizes he is wet. So I was up all night checking on him and worrying if he is freezing his little bum off all wet! When he was all wet he was dead asleep and did not want to be disturbed! (He usually wakes up almost completely dry... why all the sudden is he peeing so much? Probably cuz he is holding it all day!)

Day 2...

First thing in the morning we had 1 (most likely by chance and lucky timing) successful #2 in the potty!!! About 5 (small) accidents all day! And he peed a little bit about 3 times through out the day in the potty! Boy was I proud of him! He was pretty excited too!
Soooo guess we will see how tonight goes. I have a feeling it will be much like last night. I am prepared for that. I am also prepared for complete failure tomorrow... the looming day 3 of the "program".

BUT I have nothing to lose! Maybe people think I am crazy for trying to potty train my not quite 25 month old... but I don't care. I want to try. I am committed to helping him learn. Even if it takes 3 weeks or more! I am not forcing him or making it world war 3.... and he seems to be doing ok... not great but not horrible either.
Plus... he looks sooooo stinkin cute in his big boy underwear!!!**** How am I keeping my sanity with accident after accident, little sleep, and load after load of laundry???****
Nap time for both of us (He is totally dry for naps so I have little to worry about)!
Encouraging texts from the hubs....
My awesome friend Jamie for bring me some MUCH NEEDED Dr Pepper
And my Mom for coming to visit and bringing dinner!
