Greatest Start to a Vacation EVER!

So last week my mom took me and Jaxon to Florida! We were all super excited to see her family and let them meet Jaxon for the first time! The first 1/2 of the flight Jaxon did good and slept most of the time, but my mom and I noticed he had a fever when we were boarding in Salt Lake. We gave him some Tylenol and hoped that would help. Well by the time we got to Austin he was not feeling very good and still was VERY warm. I didn't have a thermometer with me, but you could see the fever in his eyes! The flight from Austin to Ft. Lauderdale did not go well! My poor baby was MISERABLE! To make a long story short... My aunt dealt a lot with fevers when her kids were younger, so we tried everything to get his fever down (which was at 102.9!) Stripped him down to his diaper, took a cold shower with me, cold rag on his head, medicine, cold water to drink, etc. We could not get it below 101 and he was hysterical! On top of all that he hadnt had a poopy diaper in 3 days. So around a little before 11:30 that night we decided to take him into the ER. He refused to eat, could not sleep, and was not comforted by anything! This hospital was A FREAKING JOKE! The people there were so unprofessional and rude! When we got there his temp was 101 and he was really upset. We could see there were other kids there with similar symptoms some older, some younger and we were told the WAIT would be about 2-3 hours just to have him seen!!! Well 3 hours later, he was still upset and we still had not even been called back yet! It was time for him to get more medicine, and we convinced the nurse to take his temp, yep it was back at 102.9! I was ready to kill someone! It was 2 in the morning and we were sitting there with an infant watching 8 year olds with NO FEVER and a runny nose go in before us when they had been waiting maybe 30 minutes! Don't worry after much complaining that did no good, we still were not seen until 5:30 AM!!!! I was exhausted and so was Jaxon and his fever still had not subsided! I was FURIOUS to say the least. The nurses were rude, the doctor was a beast and even when we got into a room we still waited an hour before they even ran the tests and diagnosed him! My poor baby got Influenza A. Then I got it (but not as bad) and then my mom got it and is still struggling with it! He is doing so much better now! But our first few days in Florida were spent hanging out inside my Abuelas (grandma) house trying to get better. MMM she made us some yummy food, like homemade chicken noodle soup! Great way to start a vacation huh? Anyway after we started feeling a little better, we started doing lots of FUN things!!! I will post some pictures soon, but I had to express my frustration about the dang hospital first! So if you ever go to Florida don't go to the Coral Springs Hospital.... GO TO THE OTHER ONE!!!

oh, poor baby! but i can totally relate! sounds like what happened to us on monday night! avery had a fever of 100.1 and was very sleepy/not eating. we put cold cloths on her forhead which helped some, but once i took the cloth off it would go back up. I called the hospital and they said to bring her in if it is over 99 because of how young she is. so we drove an hour away to childrens mercy ER at 1:00 am. we hardly had to wait at all ( LOVE that hospital!) even though the waiting room was full. but we were in the ER for 3 hrs poking and proding her and waiting for tests...the nurse that helped her was so nice. She also tested positive to influenze A. they finally admitted her to the hospital and rand and i had to go back to work in a few hours- we barely made it home in time for me to see my first patient! pulling all nighters is not something i can do anymore! i'm way too old. anyway, glad to hear your little one is doing much better and i'm totally jealous of your vacation! i feel like a zombie!
